Drama student's play explores identity crisis of a 'John Doe'

A man is discovered ranting incoherently along the Scottish countryside. He has no memory; in fact, he cannot even recall a conversation that took place seconds ago. Rescued and placed in a small hospital off the coast of Loch Ness, the man, called "John Doe," begins a journey that forces him to create a new and terrifying life. His psychiatrist and night nurse attempt to guide and cure him, but as they do, they find themselves questioning their own beliefs and life choices.

This is the plot for "Like This," by third-year School of Drama student Jeffrey B. Teitler, which is the final offering in the School of Drama/Yale Repertory Theatre's play reading series "Yale Playwrights at the Rep: Plays by the Graduating Class." "Like This" will be read for one night only on Monday, May 18, at 7 p.m. in the Experimental Theatre Space at 222 York St. The reading is free and open to the public; however, reservations are encouraged due to space limitations. For reservations and information, call 432-1570.
