Yale is again one of the major sponsors of the New Haven Advocate Summertime Street Festival, which will be held Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 20-23, along Chapel street between College and Park streets. Held when the Pilot Pen International Tennis Tournament is in full swing, the street festival draws some 175,000 visitors to downtown New Haven for a variety of entertainment acts and food. This year's events will include comedy, dance, theater, children's activities and circus performers. Sunday, Aug. 23, is Family Day. "Big Giant Games," a new event this year, offers children of all ages the opportunity to play and win prizes in checkers, hopscotch, juggling, double-dutch jump rope, basketball, Twister and other games.
