Teaching at Yale
Almost without exception, those who successfully complete the Ph.D. in Political Science will join the faculties of colleges and universities. For that reason, learning what is involved in teaching and gaining teaching experience are essential and central components of graduate education. The department normally expects students to devote themselves exclusively to course work and comprehensive examinations in their first two years in the Ph.D. program. Students in Political Science typically teach in their third and fourth years.
Announcements about available teaching assignments for the fall and spring semesters are sent out around late July of each year. If you are interested in applying for teaching assignments in Political Science and are not a graduate student in Political Science, please send Colleen Amaro an electronic copy of your Vita. Please note that priority in teaching assignments is given to Political Science students in their teaching years.
