Douglas Rae

Douglas Rae, Ph.D., University of Wisconsin, 1967, is the Richard Ely Professor of Political Science and Management and is affiliated with the Institute for Social and Policy Studies, and the Committee on Urban Studies. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and has been a Guggenheim Fellow, a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Study, a Fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study. He has been awarded the Hurfurth and Hallitt Prizes. His research concerns cities in capitalist settings, political ideas, business and economic history, competitive strategy. He is currently teaching Strategic Environment of Management, New Haven and the Problem of Urban Change, and Managing New York/Managing in New York. Publications include Political Consequences of Electoral Laws, 1971; Equalities, 1981; End of Urbanism, 2001.
