
Nuno Monteiro
Nuno P. Monteiro is Assistant Professor of Political Science. His research interests are in International Relations theory and security studies, including great-power politics, the causes of war, and nuclear proliferation. He is currently working on a book laying out a theory of unipolarity and on a series of papers on security topics including the causes of war in a unipolar world and the determinants of military competition, nuclear proliferation, successful military occupations, and credible deterrent threats. His work has appeared in International Security and International Theory. In the spring of 2012, he is teaching a conducting a seminar on "Military Power" (Spring 2012) and delivering a lecture course on "The Balance of Power: Theory and Practice." He received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Chicago in 2009.
