Samuel Decanio

Samuel DeCanio is Assistant Professor of Political Science.  He received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 2008.  He studies American politics, focusing on American political development, representation, regulatory policy, public opinion, and civic engagement.  He is currently working on papers examining populism, railroad regulation, agrarian third parties, and how voter ignorance influences social choice.  He is currently completing a book manuscript focused on popular control over the creation of the American regulatory state.  His research has been published in journals such as Critical Review, Journal of Politics, and Studies in American Political Development.
