Clinical Area Performance and Outcome Data
The Committee on Accreditation (CoA) and the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology (CUDCP) recommends that all doctoral programs post data regarding the performance and outcomes of recent applicants and graduate students as part of an effort to fully disclose relevant information pertaining to education and training. The Clinical Psychology Program at Yale University is happy to comply with this request; these data are reported below using the CUDCP standard form.

The Yale Clinical Training Program is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation (CoA) of the American Psychological Association (APA). The next accreditation review is scheduled for 2008. Contact information for the CoA is provided below.

It would be important for applicants to our program to be aware that this information does not fully capture the types of qualifications that we use to select students in our admissions process or the training emphases of our program. Although applicants' GRE scores and undergraduate academic record are reported to the admissions committee, greater emphasis is placed on other measures that help the committee determine applicants' potential to succeed as independent scientists, and thrive in our unique training environment. Most students admitted to the program at Yale have some experience conducting independent theoretical and/or empirical work. It is not uncommon for our graduate students to complete an independent research project during their undergraduate years (e.g., a senior thesis) or to have gained additional research experience in post-baccalaureate training. Most importantly, successful applicants to our program typically have a strong foundation in some area of theory and research design that allows students to offer unique contributions to the learning environment at Yale. A general familiarity with some area of the clinical science research literature is an important prerequisite for students' success in our program.

The data below indicate that our students are successful in securing funded internship placements at accredited sites each year. Our program does not evaluate its success in training students solely based on clinical placements, however. Rather, the Clinical Psychology Program at Yale is designed to help students develop an independent and productive scientific career. As the data indicate below, our students have typically made several high quality contributions to the research literature before graduation.

We hope the information below is helpful to students to wish to learn more about our doctoral program in Clinical Psychology.
