Ustad Shahid Parvez, a renowned classical sitar player from India performed at Yale on March 29th in Battell Chapel. As a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy Award in India, Shahid-ji has been recognized as a top artist and has performed internationally in the Festival of India. Aditya Kalyanpur who will accompany him on table is a blossoming and talented artist, disciple of the legendary Zakhir Hussain. All proceeds went to a New Haven charity called, “No Place like Home”.

We held our inaugural concert in the spring of 2008. The homey and intimate nature of the Davenport Common Room location provided a great setting for an evening of music and relaxation. We had a diverse audience of performers and musical appreciators alike. |
