Q: How do I meet the team & join?
A: Come to practice at the intramural fields. We practice from 4-6 PM
on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 3-6 PM on Fridays. (to get there,
meet us in front of Payne Whitney Gym at 3:30 PM T/Th, 2:30 PM F).
Q: When can I join?
A: The
fall is the best time to join because our main goal for the season is
getting everyone comfortable with a disc and on the field. You can also
join at the beginning of the winter or spring seasons. We play all year
long! If you want to join later in the season, contact our captains at yaleramona@gmail.com.
Q: Do I have to have previous ultimate experience?
A: No! We love rookies! Many members of Ramona had never touched a
frisbee before coming to Yale, but because ultimate is so easy to pick
up, they've become star players in no time.
Q: When do you practice?
A: Three times per week. Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6 PM, and
Fridays from 4-6 PM with optional throwing and weight lifting
throughout the week. (Subject to change depending on the season)
Q: Where do you practice?
A: The IM fields across from the Yale Bowl. You can catch the shuttle
bus from Payne Whitney around 3:30 PM (2:30 on Fridays). The buses
leave from the gym every 15 minutes.
Q: How many tournaments are there? Where are they?
A: We go to about 5 or 6 tournaments in the fall. They're mostly held
at colleges around the East Coast, such as Williams and Brown. We also
host two here at Yale: Coffee Cup in the fall, and Yale Cup in the
spring.
Q: Do I have to be a Yale undergrad to play?
A: It doesn't really matter for fall season but unfortunately, you
can't go with us to spring sectionals if you don't have any UPA
eligibility left.
Q: How did you get the name Ramona?
A: When our frisbee team was started, the captains asked every girl to
write down a women they most admired. Although many illustrious women
were mentioned, Ramona Quimby a rambunctious 8 year old girl, never afraid to get dirty and have fun was chosen.
