I received a BA from Pomona College in English literature, and an MA in the same field from the University of Chicago. I began my study of the New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where I received an MA, before I came to Yale. My interests include gender studies (masculinity in particular), literary theory, and the application of minority hermeneutics to the "technical" fields of biblical studies, e.g. textual criticism and archaeology. I am especially interested in locating the enterprise of traditional textual criticism within the discussion of origins, purity, lineage, and family in racial discourse.
