Branford Court, typical of Yale’s enclosed courtyards, provides space for planned and spontaneous residential college activities. The residential college system, established in 1931, is the heart of the Yale undergraduate experience. Every student is assigned to one of the twelve colleges, which serve as a “home base” for four years. Here, students share meals, spend free time, receive academic counseling, and enjoy access to a broad range of extracurricular programs.
