Base of West Rock

Long Wharf

East Rock Summit

Take roads to East Rock, then turn left at the base. Follow the trail to the fields on the far (north) side of the park. From there, you can either take the road or one of a handful of trails to reach the top of East Rock. Make sure to enjoy the view before heading back down. Alternatively, if you turn right at the base of East Rock (from Orange St), take follow the trail next to the athletic fields and take the first left up a neglected road and follow it to the summit.

West Rock Summit

Take roads to West Rock, then choose how you want to climb it. If you continue on the roads, you can take a long, gradual ascent up to the overlook. For a quick ascent, go up a dirt and rock trail on the west side, but be careful of loose footing. For a more gradual and scenic dirt trail, go up the south side, starting near a baseball field. This run takes longer than the one up East Rock, but the amazing view is well worth the extra effort.

NOTE: While the dirt trail on the west face is fine for ascending, it is too treacherous to descend unless you walk down most of it.
