Yale has been the best experience of my life thus far and I would not have been able to do it without the financial aid I received while here. I got involved with the Senior Class Gift because it was the Senior Class Gift of the years prior to 2011 that helped make my financial aid possible. I want to do my part to help make Yale a great experience for deserving future Yalies.

The Senior Class Gift and Alumni Fund are super important contributors to our financial aid budget, so I wanted to get involved in the SCG campaign to ensure that any student could afford this education with the support of financial aid. Without this support, we wouldn’t be the same community of incredibly talented and amazing people that I have come to love and appreciate over four years.

Hi, I am a modern middle eastern studies major in Branford and thanks to Yale fellowships and an organization I have worked with through the Yale Law School, I have spent much of my four years at Yale traveling the Middle East conducting research and advocacy on behalf of Iraqi refugees. I could simply not have had these incredible experiences were it not for Yale’s fellowship and faculty support. Even though I love traveling, I also have immense pride in my Yale experience in New Haven.

I’m involved with the SCG Campaign because after four years of seeing the amazing things Yale has done for my fellow students and me, it’s the least I could do. I want future Yale students to be able to have the same opportunities.

As someone who has taken advantage of a lot of resources from the University, I am especially excited about the opportunity to serve as Calhoun’s Senior Class Gift Co-Chair. Last year, we achieved 100% participation. This year, we expect to reach 110% (perhaps by adopting some non-’Hounies). Get pumped! Records will be broken. How Strong? ’Houn Strong. Done.

I’m a member of Calhoun College from Albany, NY, majoring in the history of science & medicine. I’m involved in the Senior Class Gift not just to have a great time, but to show my appreciation for the incredible experiences I’ve had as a student. I’m excited to be a part of this effort to give back to the University, and hope that I can encourage all of my classmates to participate in what could be the most successful year yet.

Will O’Shaughnessy hails from Chicago, IL, and is a fan of all things Michael Jordan, Mike Ditka, and encased meats. He is involved in the Senior Class Gift because he thinks it’s a worthy cause to benefit future Yalies. In his spare time, he enjoys long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners and Handsome Dan.

Over the past four years, I’ve benefited enormously from Yale’s generous financial aid, and am thrilled to be giving back to the University through the 2011 Senior Class Gift. In another four years’ time, I intend to out-Swenson David Swenson with my current bank balance of $535.95.

As Lauren’s father can attest, she is well-versed in the art of asking for money. Lauren is campaigning to have ’live college mascots’ added to the subset of donation baskets and knows that if she is successful, Ezra Stiles will rock the senior class gift drive. STILES BY CHANCE, MOOSE BY CHOICE!

Chris Lash has only broken the law once, but it was the law of gravity, so it probably shouldn’t count. He’s excited about the Senior Class Gift because Yale is pretty cool.

My name is Cathy Lew, and I am the co-chair for Jonathan Edwards College because JE SUX. I am involved with the Senior Class Gift campaign because I want to help give back to Yale and make sure Dan stays handsome.

Caroline is a senior member of the Welsh royal house of Deheubarth, a principality of Medieval Wales. She was the great granddaughter of The Lord Rhys (d. 1197), prince of south Wales, and the last ruler of a united Deheubarth. She is best known for her leadership of a revolt in south Wales in 1287-88 and a particularly excellent plate of pancakes last Sunday.

I’m in love with this place so why wouldn’t I want to give back? For all that Yale has done for us; I think it’s the least we can do to give a little back to make sure that others will have the same opportunities. Plus, who wouldn’t want to be involved when we have such a sweet poster? Yes We Dan!!!

I’m from Virginia Beach, VA majoring in biology and classics. I play cello in Low Strung, dance with KASAMA: The Filipino Club, and play unnecessary amounts of bananagrams. You should donate to SCG because the amount of money you spend on late night food could go towards financial aid for incoming freshmen- those three Wenzels you bought last month can go a long way.

Kelsey hails from the temperate shores of Tampa, Florida, where the sun is almost as bright as those on the Pierson crest. Almost. She enjoys most books but not many numbers, and one day hopes to mold young people’s minds as a high school English teacher. When not holed up with her nose in a book, she can be found singing with Whim ’n Rhythm, answering the phone in the Pierson Master’s Office, counting butterflies at the Peabody, or teaching in New Haven schools. She thinks you should give to the Senior Class Gift so that future Yalies can continue to have similar adventures.

Nava is a senior in Saybrook College, and got involved in the Senior Class Gift Campaign because Drew told her she should. And also because she loves Yale, a lot.

Yale has done a lot for me, from the friends I’ve made to the memorable classes I’ve taken and the flat-out college fun I’ve had. I see the Senior Class Gift campaign as the perfect way to say “Thank You” and give back to the institution which has invested in me and my future. “Thanks, Yale!”

I joined the Senior Class Gift Campaign as a College Co-Chair, because every day, I feel lucky to be a student at Yale. My experience here has been the greatest four years of my life, and I want to ensure that everyone is given the same opportunities that I was. The Senior Class Gift has the ability to make an impact and inspire continual giving to the institution that has truly shaped us into who we are today.

Sarika Arya is from London via Houston, and is double majoring in ethics, politics, & economics and theater studies. After four years of watching herself and her friends spend all their money on identical outfits at Urban Outfitters and overpriced sandwiches at the ironically named Gourmet Heaven, she thought helping to channel these funds into the Yale Senior Class Gift would be a (very) worthwhile project to be a part of. She hopes her parents would be proud of her newfound business acumen.

Jalal Osman is a Timothy Dwight fanatic. He’s a political science major who loves Timothy Dwight, writing, playing guitar, and generous Timothy Dwight Seniors. Also, he’s in Timothy Dwight.

Hi! I’m George, and I’m very involved in Trumbull College, from Intramurals to TCC. I’ve had a lot of fun in the last four years, and I want to make sure that future Trumbullians get the opportunities I did!

In the last four years, I’ve studied French literature in Paris, built youth shelters in Nepal, and advocated for educational reform in the Republic of Georgia.  The energy and excitement Yale have pushed me to expand my boundaries, and go places and do things I never would have dreamed of otherwise. I am so grateful for the experiences I have had as a Yalie, and am working on the Campaign to ensure that others have these opportunities as well.
