Shades alumni now have their very own alumni webpage thanks to Reny Diaz (SY '04).

Shades is extraordinarily proud of its alumni tradition. As the youngest a cappella group at Yale, Shades has the privilege of keeping frequent contact with many Shades of the past and is often treated to a visit by the group's founder, Titilayo Ngwenya ’92.

Shades 15th Anniversary

Shades' 15th-year anniversary concert, held in April 2004, saw the return of nearly 50 alumni, who shared their stories of the group’s olden days and of their current projects. Shades alums are doctors, lawyers, philanthropists, teachers, successful Broadway actors, recording artists, designers, executives, producers, travelers, authors, and parents. Many remain in close contact with each other to this day, and it is always a wonderful experience when they come back to visit. Nothing compares to the feeling of singing Shades' traditional closing song, “Amen/We Shall Overcome,” arranged by the group's founding members, with past members.

Shades' 20th-year concert was a great success. We saw the return of over 70 alumni who participated in panels to discuss both the past and the future of Shades.
