DROP Team

The Yale Drop Team was founded by five physics undergraduate in the Fall of 2005 to compete in the NASA Microgravity University Reduced Gravity Student Flight Opportunities Program (RGSFOP). Funded by the Yale Physics Department, the team constructed their experiment, a study of the hysteresis of Taylor cone formation, in the Spring of 2006, and after a week of training at Ellington Field in Houston flew on board NASA's C-9 "Vomit Comet" in July 2006. The YDT was the first team from Yale to ever participate in this highly competitive program and paved the way for a second generation, the Yale Drop Team 2006-2007, to take their experiment on the C-9 in March of 2007.
