Sustainability Leaders Program



Yale’s Sustainability Leaders Program has taken root across campus. The Sustainability Leaders Program which began last fall with twelve individuals has expanded to a group of more than forty individuals representing thirty-three different departments. These volunteers are working with the Office of Sustainability to create sustainable workplaces on both the medical and central campuses. Sustainability Leaders volunteer a few hours each month to educate their co-workers about the importance and ease of adopting sustainable office practices including green purchasing, energy conservation measures, and waste reduction and recycling efforts. Once a month sustainability leaders meet to receive updates and information on Yale’s sustainability initiatives and to discuss the progress and challenges within their individual offices. Sustainability Leaders are now forming “Green Teams” within their offices and departments with the goal of encouraging broader participation and facilitating the transition to a more sustainable work environment. If you are interested in being part of a Green Team in your office or department, contact your Sustainability Leader.
