Transportation Options

Why Transportation Options?

Yale Transportation Options is here to help you make transportation decisions that serve you, your community and the environment. After all, we are all connected.

Unpredictable gasoline prices and congested roads are making many of us reconsider our transportation options. Find out what your options are by filling out a "commuter counseling form." Trains, shuttles, ridesharing, walking and bicycling are among the solutions you will learn about here.

Use the tools and information on this site to help you make the most informed transportation decisions. Click on Getting to Yale to find out how to access our university from the surrounding area/region, or click on Getting Around Yale to find out how to get around our campus, once you are here.

Less Stress, Less Cost, Less Carbon

If you pay to park at Yale, and live within ¼ mile of a bus stop or 2 miles of a train station, you may have received an email with a personalized map showing your transit options. If you meet these parking and transit criteria, but didn’t receive the email, please contact us. Transportation Options developed this automated communication and mapping process using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. Read the Yale Bulletin and Calendar article about this project. We have compiled a list of the assumptions used to calculate distances, cost savings, carbon dioxide emission impacts and more, in case you are curious!
