Started 8 pm in Trumbull Common Room.

 

ChildrenÕs Week starts this Friday, well Saturday since Raffi is not part of ChildrenÕs Week anymore (he does not want to be seen as childrenÕs singer now). So, anyways, get pumped!

 

I.               Posters for ChildrenÕs Week – put them up!

a.     So cute! Thanks Pam and Nikki.

II.             Finalize everything for ChildrenÕs Week by this Weds. and send information to Pamela.shen at yale.edu

III.           Mr. Ray – Stephanie

a.     Any Master want to host tea?

b.     Performing at ChildrenÕs Museum at 2:30 pm

c.     Museum gave free tickets – 25 family ˆ HeadStart, 50 individual ˆ United Community

d.     Museum will give free book/child

IV.          An Evening with Raffi – Friday, November 30, 7:30 pm at Sudler Hall

a.     Will speak about child honoring and sing new songs about environmental conservation

b.     Will be opened by Tangled Up in Blue

c.     WeÕre allowed to publicize childrenÕs week at end of event

d.     Need few volunteers – Roshan.sethi at yale.edu

                                               i.     Donation collector – Jess

                                             ii.     Make collection box – Kristjiana

e.     Alice will speak at end to promote childrenÕs week

f.      Sell t-shirts as people leave?

V.            Workshops – Friday, December 7, throughout day

a.     Ann – locations, LC – need to speak with registrar lady

b.     Nikki and Jess – registration, use gmail account

VI.          ChildrenÕs Art exhibit and Silent Auction – Sameer and Jess

a.     Throughout week: Location – called churches, no reply yet, but ShawÕs a possibility

b.     Saturday, Dec. 8, 4 pm: Reception – bring onto campus, possible location is Trumbull basement

c.     Drawings

                                               i.     Jess got HullÕs (HullÕs is really nice. –Alice) to do free matting

                                             ii.     Brian Wayda of Distressed Children said drawings sent from Bangladesh, should arrive very soon

                                            iii.     Art teacher in Hooker elementary school chose drawings from 2nd/3rd grade class

d.     Auction – set prices?

                                               i.     Where should money go? Amman Imman, Haryana Educational Program in India (Sameer) or Bangladesh school

                                             ii.     Find out how needy Bangladesh school is – Jess

e.     Once find location, let Jess know so she can tell PSIs so they can let parents of children know that their drawings are up.

VII.        Community Day – Saturday, Dec. 1

a.     Book fair at United Community school

b.     Volunteer opportunities

                                               i.     Wear Clifford costume, man crafts table or sell food

                                             ii.     Time weÕll go: 12-2:30 (then go to Mr. RayÕs)

c.     Will have performances and parents offering their services

d.     School is affiliated with community, but gets funding like HeadStart

VIII.      T-shirts – Kristjiana, Alice

a.     Golden with black zigzag line like Charlie BrownÕs shirt with quote on back: ÒIn the book of life, the answers arenÕt in the back.Ó ~Charlie Brown

b.     Really nice T-shirt guy a few blocks from TD: Formosa

c.     $5.15/shirt

d.     ordered 45, increase? Will people buy?

e.     Shejuti- UOFC would give money for shirts if we store for next year, so if we have leftover, can have UOFC pay for them.

IX.          Party – Friday, Dec. 7 - Nikki

a.     Working with Party for a Cause

b.     Theme? Foam (dirty), highlighter (black light really messy, flooring had to be changed in dining hall once)

                                               i.     Bubbles and Bathrobes!

1.     If donÕt get foam, still can have bubbles.

X.            Education day – Thursday, Dec. 6

a.     Two big education people of Connecticut might come

                                               i.     David Nee and Janice Grindell

                                             ii.     3:30-5:00 – can people come?

a.     Dr. Amit WachooÕs (World Fellow) documentary – "Floating Lamp of the Shadow Valley"

XIII.      Wednesday, Dec. 5

a.     ChildrenÕs author, B.G. Hennessy, at Yale College Writing Center

                                               i.     Lecture – 4 pm, topic to be decided by her

                                             ii.     Workshop – 5 pm, talk about childrenÕs book writing

XIV.      Tuesday, Dec. 4

a.     Rwandan speaker – Paul Rudatsikira

b.     World Fellows panel – 7:30 pm, LC, dessert afterwards? – Betsy

XV.        Op-Ed in Yale Daily News – Kristjiana
