Science Institutes
Multi-disciplinary research institutes are being developed to bring together faculty from the Medical School, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the FAS science departments. Five institutes are currently under development in the broad areas of chemical biology, microbial diversity, systems biology, biodesign and cancer.
Yale University is actively engaged in identifying and recruiting faculty to lead the activities of the research institutes. Professor Tom Lynch, Director of the Yale Cancer Center, is heading the search committee to identify a leader for the West Campus Cancer Biology Institute. Most recently, we have been successful in recruiting Professor Nancy Moran and Professor Howard Ochman from the University of Arizona to lead the Microbial Diversity Institute. See http://opa.yale.edu/news/article.aspx?id=6918. Yale Chemistry Professor Alanna Schepartz is the new Director of our Chemical Biology Institute. While she and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Professor Gunter Wagner are overseeing the development of our Systems Biology Institutes.
Information on the following Institutes will be available soon.
