Deputy Director for Policy and Communications, United Nations/United Nations Development Programme

Building on her work with the United Nations on four continents, Nicola Harrington-Buhay leads UN policy engagement with the European Union. Harrington was previously UN Resident Coordinator in Serbia and Montenegro, as well as director of fundraising for the UN Development Programme, where she contributed to UN reform and helped the UNDP attain its highest levels of core resources.  Prior to serving in the UN, Harrington worked for the Bank of England, specializing in financial trade liberalization and building bridges between government and industry positions in international negotiations. She is an expert on the relationship between the EU and the UN and sits on international advisory boards on changing multilateralism, the EU as a global and regional actor in security and global re-ordering and multi-polarity.
