John Hendra | Canada | 2009
Assistant Secretary-General, Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Programme, UN Women Hendra is a career United Nations officer working at the leading edge of UN reform efforts. He has served with the UN and the United Nations Development Programme since 1986 in a variety of roles, including as UN Resident Coordinator in Latvia and Tanzania and Deputy Director of the UNDP’s Bureau for Resources and Strategic Partnerships. Before joining UN Women, he served as Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, where he was responsible for spearheading the “One UN Initiative,” a major UN reform project which aims to enhance the effectiveness and impact of the UN in an individual country.
