YCB History

The Yale Band's history begins in 1917, when Lt. Joseph Ellis first assembled a group of instrumentalists to do service for Yale College. Various groups of wind, brass and percussion players presented concerts at Yale thoughout the first half of the 20th century.

The Yale Concert Band begins its official history in 1946 with the appointment of Keith L. Wilson. We have mostly complete information dating back to 1982. Before then, we have some information, but we could use some help to complete it. Please send us information or photos that will fill out the history of your years in the Yale Concert Band.
