Presentation of Equipment to the Kenyan National Tae Kwon Do Team

On December 9th, 2004, the Yale Tae Kwon Do Club presented equipment to the Kenyan National Team in order to aid them in furthering their training in the martial arts. Below is a copy of the letter that accompanied the equipment.

9 December 2004

Dear Sir,

Along with this letter, you will find a collection of Tae Kwon Do equipment which I would like to offer to you and your team in the interest of the furthering of your practice of the art in Kenya. It is my honor and pleasure to present your team with this special gift, which is accompanied by the hope that your team may use them for the enhancement of your martial arts training in a way in which our team cannot.

Several months ago, Mr. Andrew Towne, a black belt who has practiced with us here at Yale, approached me inquiring about a possible donation of gear to your school in Kenya. I owe him my sincere thanks for making this presentation possible - his persistence and kind-heartedness are two qualities that should define any student of the martial arts. Moreover, by expressing his willingness to deliver the gear in person as he travels home for winter break, he has clearly shown his desire to improve the quality of the martial arts experience at your school. He deserves the highest commendation for his efforts; and I have recommended this example of dedication to helping others to all of the students who are involved with Yale Tae Kwon Do.

On behalf of all of the members of the Yale Tae Kwon Do team, I would like to present this equipment to you. May this small gift be a blessing to you during this holiday season; and I wish you all the best for your martial arts training during 2005. I am,

Ever yours,

Robert Tice Lalka President and Captain, Yale Tae Kwon Do
