Once every semester, YHHAP organizes the YHHAP fast—when students can choose to give up their meal swipes for a day and the proceeds are donated to combat hunger and homelessness in New Haven. The fast is operated in conjunction with Yale Dining Services, and typically involves other undergraduate organizations and local New Haven restaurants and businesses as well. The Fall 2011 Fast raised over $18,000 for the HPR (prevention and rehousing programs).

This semester’s fast will be on Friday, April 13th.

We will be tabling in the dining halls from Monday April 5th to Thursday April 12th.

We are also having a YHHAP Reflection 7PM on Thursday, April 12th. Come hear YHHAP board members speak about what Fast means to them and what the value of the Fast is to the larger Yale Community.

spring 2012

Participants, please note: if you signed up for the fast and have changed your mind about participating, select the “No” button in SIS and click Submit. If you choose to participate in the fast, you will be giving up one day’s worth of board meals, of which the related food expense will be donated to YHHAP. Please note that your Board swipes will not work in the dining halls on the day of the fast. However, you may eat in a dining hall that day if you pay cash, charge your meal to your student account, or use Eli Bucks or Flex Points.
