Features
The conference will be a phenomenal international relations learning environment for your MUN team from an intellectual as well as personal experience perspective. YMUN XXXV presents19 of the highest calibre committees YMUN has produced to date, with topic areas that cover all 7 world continents. One in five YMUN XXXV delegates comes from a country outside the U.S., and despite English being official language of the conference, we have delegates who are native speakers of the other five official UN languages - Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish.
Yale Day
Yale Day affords delegates and advisors an
opportunity to explore Yale's
beautiful campus and experience a little bit of everyday Yale life.
Classes are open to anyone interested in listening in on a
college lecture, and YMUN sponsors tours of the college and information
sessions about Yale throughout the morning. Additionally, lectures
given by ambassadors and professors allow all those interested to gain
a better understanding of international affairs straight from the
experts. Yale Day is also a chance to explore New Haven. For ideas on
what to
do during Yale day, check out the Secretariats' Picks on what to do
in and around Yale.
Location
YMUN is held entirely on Yale's beautiful Gothic and Victorian campus. Delegates and advisors will have an opportunity to explore the campus during Yale Day, and oftentimes, delegates leave the conference with a unique experience of what college life is like. Yale University is located an hour and a half from New York City and two and a half hours from Boston.New Delegate Training
Advisors have often commented that YMUN's new delegate
training session
is one of the most helpful parts of the conference. Expert staff
members outline the procedures one needs
to know in order to fully
participate in committee sessions, and this allows every delegate to
get the most out of the conference, regardless of previous model UN
experience.
Faculty Events
YMUN offers luncheons and lectures by Yale professors and
international
ambassadors so that advisors have an opportunity to mingle and further
their knowledge of international relations. We appreciate and
understand the great sacrifices that adult chaperones make in
order for
their delegates to attend the conference, and we hope to make the
conference rewarding for them as well.
Delegate Dance & Movie Night
YMUN offers delegates a chance to kick back and relax during the best party on campus. Saturday night allows all participants to get to know their peers outside of a committee session.
International
Schools Reception
YMUN continually strives to create a more memorable and
educational environment for the delegates. In this vein we have begun
to recruit
more international schools. This year Yale professors as well as a
panel of international Yale students will welcome our international
schools with a reception.
YIRA
YMUN is a part of the Yale International Relations
Association, Inc. (YIRA), one of Yale University 's largest
undergraduate organizations. YIRA is an umbrella organization that
encompasses not only YMUN but
also a world-champion traveling model UN team (MUNTY), a college
crisis-based Model UN conference (SCSY), and a speaker's committee that
brings ambassadors and other international experts to campus.
