The Institute publishes On Common Ground, a periodical focusing on the development of teachers and of
their curricula through school-university partnerships. Each issue has a topical focus. In the past, feature articles have been written
by Secretaries of Education Richard Riley and Rod Paige and Secretary of Labor Robert
Reich. Between 1993 and 1995 Fred M. Hechinger contributed a regular column, "About
Partnership." The current issue is Number
14.
The first book on the Institute, Teaching In America: The Common Ground, was originally published by the
College Board in 1983. It presents accounts of secondary school teachers and university faculty members working together to prepare curriculum units for use in the New Haven Public Schools. These include:

Teaching in New Haven: The Common Challenge (1991) is a collection of exemplary curriculum units produced in the Institute. According to editor Thomas R. Whitaker, "They stand as examples of the distinctive process of individual curriculum development in which the Fellows of the Institute have been engaged."
