More Details/FAQ:
Who should participate?
Undergraduates doing research in psychology. We encourage people at all stages of the research process to participate. Apply whether you’re reviewing the literature, proposing study designs, in the process of data collection, or totally finished.
What is the format of the symposium?
The symposium will consist of a keynote conversation between a professor, a graduate student, and an undergraduate, followed by an informal poster session and reception. The keynote conversation will center on questions as to what it’s like to be involved in research as an undergraduate. How do you get involved in a lab? What do graduate mentors expect from undergraduates? What do professors expect? What do you, as an undergraduate, want to get out of research? The poster session will be very informal. Presenters will stand in front of their poster boards and talk about their ideas to anyone interested.
What are the selection criteria for submitted abstracts?
Since the symposium is open to people at all stages of the research process, abstracts will be evaluated, not based upon the extent to which the project is finished, but rather based on whether or not you demonstrate that you have a clear idea to talk about at the poster symposium.
Who will attend the symposium?
Professors, graduate students, undergraduates involved in research, undergraduates who want to get involved. . . and anyone else who wants to see undergraduate psychology research!
How do I create a poster and where do I get materials?
Trifold cardboard poster boards will be provided. We do not expect you to have posters professionally printed.
